INNATE’s Planning for the Fourth Trimester community series is for pregnant mothers and families who want to prepare for a nourishing, regenerative postpartum period.

Based on the Hibiscus Coast and supporting families across Auckland and surrounding areas, this community series offers a grounded way to prepare for the fourth trimester.

Together, we explore the Five Essentials of Postpartum Care, which are found throughout postpartum traditions across the world and are deeply rooted in women’s physiologic and psychological design.

Run over six classes, the course looks at the physiological needs of the postpartum mother and her newborn, and how to offer care that is truly supportive, informed and attuned to this foundational stage of life.

The first five classes of INNATE Postpartum Care - Planning for the Fourth Trimester are held PRE-natally, and the sixth and final class is held in the postpartum. Over this time we will gather weekly to explore the foundations of traditional postpartum care through time-honoured wisdom, woven with modern science.

What we’ll explore:

  • The five cross-cultural postpartum prescriptions and why they remain essential today.

  • What is common but not normal in the postpartum period, and what physiological recovery can look like.

  • The vital role of partners, family, and community in supporting a new mother.

  • Practical rituals, tools and traditions to prepare for a deeply supported and restorative fourth trimester.

  • Guidance in creating your own personalised postpartum plan for rest, nourishment, recovery and support.

  • A deeper understanding of postpartum as a sacred and transformative rite of passage.

  • Building your village and identifying the people who will hold you through this season.

  • Connection with like-hearted families preparing for the same season of life.

  • A closing community gathering to witness, honour and celebrate the emergence of new parents and babies. In this way we bring honour and a layer of completion to our rites of passage into Motherhood and Fatherhood.

and so much more…..

The postpartum season can bring many questions. Here are some common questions and answers to help you feel more informed, supported and prepared as you move toward life after birth. Further questions are always welcome.
